Subject: Human Genome Map announcement

The National Center for Human Genome Research and NLM today announced
web
access to a genetic "map" of over 16,000 genes in human DNA,
approximately
one-fifth of the 80,000 genes in human chromosomes. The Internet site
also includes extensive links to supporting data and bibliographic
references. Today's issue of the journal SCIENCE showcases the
development, and NLM expects significant coverage by national media.
The
site (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/SCIENCE96/) became available online at 4 pm
Eastern time.
