The following two Users Guides to the Medical Literature have appeared
on the WWW following their appearance in the JAMA series. There seems
to be some mismatch between the naming of the URL and the subject of
the Guide but apart from that they function fine:-

How to use an article reporting variations in the outcomes of health
services.
http://hiru.mcmaster.ca/ebm/userguid/10_hsr.htm
[Naylor CD et al. Users' Guides to the Medical Literature. X. How to use an
article reporting variations in the outcomes of health services.
JAMA 1996; 275 (7): 554-558].

and

How to use an article about a clinical utilization review.
http://hiru.mcmaster.ca/ebm/userguid/9_econ.htm
[Naylor CD et al. Users' Guides to the Medical Literature. XI. How to use an
article about a clinical utilization review. JAMA 1996; 275 (18): 1435-1439].

These will be of particular interest in an audit setting. There is still as yet no sign
of the Users' Guide on Economic Evaluation predicted for this year
[Source: Clinical Epidemiology Newsletter 1995]. If you haven't
visited the McMaster site recently check out its natty new index
cards which allow you to access searching guides, teaching tips and
articles for the different sets of topics. A list of the other JAMA User
Guides can be found at
