Hallo!

Gruesse,

Neuropsychology Central is devoted to the subject of - "Neuropsychology, a
new branch of science with the specific and unique aim of investigating
the role of individual brain systems in complex forms of mental activity."
- A.R. Luria "The Working Brain" The page aims to describe the importance
of neuropsychology as a science of brain and behavior, and to act as a
resource for the professional and layperson alike. See links to current
technology for brain imaging, and sections covering different aspects of
this ever growing field such as cognitive, developmental, and geriatric
Neuropsychology. In addition, a reader survey is included to facilitate
the expansion of the site.

The Library and Related Resources Page at the University of Exeter (UK)
provides extensive pointers to library and information sites in the United
Kingdom. An especially noteworthy site is included with the indexes and
bibliographic information sources: the Bulletin Board for Libraries
(BUBL), listing the extensive BUBL subject tree of Internet resources.
BUBL is arranged both alphabetically and by UDC (Universal Decimal
System--a system similar to the U.S. Dewey Decimal System). This UDS
arrangement is one of the best and most extensive examples of an online
"library catalog" of Internet resources. Also provided at this site are
library information servers, library catalogs, library and related
organizations, and scholarly societies, among others.

The Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) of the National
Agricultural Library (USDA) maintains a variety of electronic access
points for the full texts of its bibliographies, resource lists, and fact
sheets. Topics include Food Labeling Educational Materials, Food and
Nutrition Software and Multimedia, and educational materials covering
Foodborne Illness and the Food Guide Pyramid. Additional information is
available on human nutrition, nutrition education, food service
management, and other topics.

Subject: NOAH: New York Online Access to Health

I am the associate producer of a WWW site on consumer health information.
Recently we noted an increase in hits on our Chronic Fatigue Fact Sheet
and we were able to ascertain that it was do to a posting on your list.
We appreciate the attention and I thought that you might be interested in
knowing a little more about our site.
NOAH: New York Online Access to Health (http://www.noah.cuny.edu)
NOAH is your guide in Spanish
and English to the latest health information and resources from volunteer
and local governmental agencies, and from other health sites on the
Internet. Right now, most of our Spanish information comes from the
National Cancer Institute, although, soon, all of the data from our
providers
will be fully translated. NOAH is currently focused on nine main health
topics: Aging, AIDS, Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Nutrition,
Pregnancy, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and Tuberculosis (TB),
but we plan to expand well beyond these categories.
NOAH is a pilot project funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce's
National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and
matching grants. Partners with CUNY in this project are the New York
Metropolitan Reference and Research Library Agency, The New York
Academy of Medicine and The New York Public Library.
Our contributing providers include GMHC, March of Dimes, National Cancer
Institute, NYSDOH, NYCDOH, Share,and Well-Connected.

Thank you for your attention. I hope you find the site useful.

Subject: Re: ?REPROTOX

Hello!

This response is for Ann Rolfe and anyone else who is interested in the
REPROTOX
database.

I know her question has already been answered, but I thought I'd add a
bit more since I am quite familiar with the database as I had once
worked at Columbia Hospital for Women for the Reproductive Toxicology
Center.

The medical director is Dr. Anthony Scialli (also on faculty at
Georgetown University Medical Center)

The administrator of the center is Kay Padgett and she takes care of all
membership inquiries.

One must be a member of the Center in order to have online access to the
database. The database is also available on diskette. The diskettes were
free to members and available for a fee to non-members. The database is
now also available on CD-ROM through MICROMEDEX (this is fairly recent).

The database is comprised of over 3000 entries of almost anything and
everything that one would be concerned of if pregnant (mostly drugs and
chemicals). Things like 'air travel', 'exercise' and 'standing' are also
included. One can search by name, REPROTOX number, or CAS number.
The number for the database is 202-293-5946. Before becoming a member
you may want to log on as a Demo user. You are able to view up to two
summaries as a non-member (for the cost of the telephone line only).

As previously mentioned the Reproductive Toxicology Center is located at
Columbia Hospital for Women. 2440 M Street, NW - Suite 216, Washington,
DC 20037-1404. The phone number is 202-293-5137.

I would be happy to answer any more specific questions for those who are
interested. As the Librarian there, I did all the online searching for
new and existing entries and also exhibited the database at various
conference, giving demonstrations and handing out information.

Subject: New Patient Education Web Resource

The Health Education Program (HEP) database of
favorably reviewed patient education materials is
now available on the Web.

URL is as follows:

http://research.med.umkc.edu/aafp/pt_ed.html

What is HEP?
The Health Education Program (HEP) is a peer
review process of patient education materials.
Those pieces receiving a favorable review are
collected in the HEP database, which is now
available on the WWW.
All materials are designed to be used by health
professionals in educating their patients, and are
examined on a variety of criteria including
scientific accuracy, content, and appropriateness
for use in the family practice setting.

Administered by the American Academy of Family
Physicians Foundation, materials in the HEP
database are generated by a variety of producers
and cover a broad spectrum of topics and formats.

HEP is intended to be a select list of quality
materials, perhaps most useful as a selection aid
since listed materials have been evaluated by
health care professionals. Currently the database
contains approximately 475 records.

Please visit the site and let us know what you
think.
