INTRODUCTION.
-------------
New United Kingdom Official Publications Online (NUKOP Online)
is a Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) funded
project resulting from a report by the Joint Funding Council's
Libraries Funding Review Group chaired by Sir Brian Follett,
Vice-Chancellor, University of Warwick. NUKOP Online would like
to thank the HEFCE for their support.
NUKOP Online is run by researchers in the Ford Collection of
British Official Publications (one of the largest of its kind
in the country) in the Hartley Library at the University of
Southampton.
Very recent UK Official Publications receive a lot of media
attention and are in high demand. However, publishing lags
and the large volume of data involved mean they are difficult
to track down using printed catalogues and CD-ROM databases.
Until now, locating very recent UK Official Publications has
been a difficult, time-consuming task for many people.
THE NEW UNITED KINGDOM OFFICIAL PUBLICATIONS ONLINE SERVICE.

NUKOP Online aims to increase the productivity of UK policy
related research work by reducing the time people spend searching
for relevant government publications. To this end, NUKOP Online
offers a World Wide Web database and a set of policy-awareness
mailing lists.

The NUKOP Online Web database is updated daily and gives people
access to records of New United Kingdom Official Publications
from July 1995 to present. The NUKOP Online database is available
free-of-charge and allows people to:
SEARCH for specific authors; titles; subject keywords.
Search results can be displayed on-screen or downloaded
over the Internet to your own computer.
BROWSE lists of new UK Official Publications indexed by
subject keyword; type and month. Lists can be displayed
on-screen or downloaded over the Internet to your own
computer.
JOIN POLICY-AWARENESS MAILING LISTS The NUKOP Online
Web service gives more details about how to join our
policy awareness mailing lists.
NUKOP Online MAILBASE MAILING LISTS.

NUKOP Online would like to thank Mailbase for hosting our mailing
lists on their server. You can subscribe to one or more of the
NUKOP Online Mailing Lists and receive details of recent UK Official
Publications in particular policy areas over the Internet. These
mailing lists act as a forum for policy "brainstorming": discussing
matters arising from recent government publications (apart from
nukop-daily-list where members receive lists of publications but
there is no discussion). The following NUKOP Online mailing lists

The data appearing in the NUKOP Online Web Service and mailing
lists is drawn from the Ford Collection of British Official
Publications in the Hartley Library at the University of Southampton.
The Ford Collection is one of the biggest of its kind in the country
and we subscribe to most items published by Her Majesty's Stationery
Office as well as governmental material published elsewhere. The
NUKOP Online dataset includes records of new:
