Auswertung von Nutzungsdaten der e-Journals in Konsortien

Das nationale Konsortium in der Schweiz wertet für alle angebotenen elektronischen Informationsprodukte die Nutzungsdaten systematisch aus. Die erhobenen Daten liefern eine wesentliche Grundlage für die künftige Optimierung der Informationsversorgung für die wissenschaftliche Community sowie für den gezielten Einsatz der Erwerbungsmittel. Am Beispiel SpingerLINK wurde die Anzahl bezogener Volltexte des gesamten Verlagsangebotes sowie einzelner Titel nach mehreren Kriterien differenziert ausgewertet. Die Ergebnisse werden diskutiert und mit entsprechenden, von anderen Konsortien veröffentlichten Statistiken verglichen. Hierbei werden die Titel des Fachbereiches Medizin gesondert betrachtet. Das gesamte Titelspektrum wird zunehmend häufiger genutzt. Allerdings decken bereits 40% der angebotenen Titel 85% der Nutzung ab. Dass für die künftige Auswahl des Titelangebotes das Auswerten von Nutzungsdaten nicht das alleinige Kriterium sein kann, wird ebenfalls skizziert.

The national consortium in Switzerland systematically analyses the usage data for all electronic information products offered. The collected data provide an essential basis for the future optimisation of the provision of information for the scientific community, as well as for the targeted use of the acquisition medium. Taking SpringerLINK as an example, the number of full texts consulted out of the entire range of the publisher’s journals on offer, as well as individual titles, are analysed using several criteria. The results are discussed and compared with the corresponding statistics published by other consortia, giving separate consideration to titles in the medical field. The trend is for the entire range of titles to be used increasingly often, although 40 percent of the available titles account for 85 percent of the utilisation. That the evaluation of usage data cannot be the only criterion for the future selection of titles to be offered, is also discussed.
